United Neighborhood Organizations is animated by hope and optimism. We are committed to the idea that a coherent community, based on the respectful practice and understanding of diverse cultural expressions, is not only possible, but desirable.

We are determined to see that every person served at our community centers receives all possible opportunities to grow individually, to improve their lives, to become active participants in both work and family, to understand the necessity of returning something positive to their neighborhoods, and to simply take pleasure in their existence.

We want our services to neighborhoods and their residents to be empathetic, understanding and sensitive. Our staff and or volunteers comprehend the need to be welcoming, warm, and solicitous without pandering or stooping to condescension. We believe that we understand the imperative of being gentle, consoling and guiding when appropriate, but being firm when necessary. We invest heavily in the “success” of the people and neighborhoods we serve because their success is not only our business but our avocation.
